SAME's Seattle Post was chartered in 1920 - the same year the National Society of American Military Engineers was organized. The mission of SAME is to promote and facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public and private sector engineers, and related professionals. Seattle Post membership includes all branches of the military particularly representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Navy's Engineering Field Activity Northwest, the Coast Guard's Facilities Design & Construction Center, NOAA, and Public Health Service, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies that provide and utilize engineering, planning, architecture and construction services.
